Travel Zagreb

Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia, boasts of vast boulevards, scenic parks and buildings influenced by Habsburg architecture. You will notice once you step into the city that there are many museums. In fact, Zagreb has more museums per square foot compared to any other city. Museums are not the only thing Zagreb is famous for, people from all walks of life enjoy taking a sip of their favorite coffee in one of the numerous cafes dotting the city. It is a pleasure just hanging out in one of the cafes while the cool Mediterranean breeze blows past you.

Touring the city is best done by foot which is easy since the sights in the city are near to each other. In the upper town area is where the Banski Dvori or Presidential Palace is located. The St. Mark’s Church is of a gothic design with colorful roof tiles depicting the coat of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia is a must see in this area. There are also a lot of museums and art galleries here which focuses mainly on Croatian artwork.

Shopping is best done in the lower town area. The main shopping street is Ilica with its numerous shops. Art galleries are also numerous here with a fine collection of priceless objects.

Make sure to check out the biannual International Music Festival held in this city which happens in the month of Aril. In the second week of June the Cest is d’ Best brings out all of the best street performers of Zagreb. In September the International Puppet Festival is held in this city.
